Plans and billing

How Mindola plans work, what the free trial covers, and how to manage or cancel your subscription.

How plans work

Mindola has a free tier and paid plans. Every plan can build a second brain and share lenses; paid plans unlock more features and ship with a larger lifetime word allowance. Current plan names and prices are always shown in the app.

The paid plans differ in who they are for. One is the complete personal plan: all chat modes, web search, voice input and spoken replies, image and document analysis, full memory and knowledge search, every capture tool, multiple lenses with a custom link, and the audience inbox and lens analytics for the people who chat with them. The other is the creator plan: everything in the personal plan, plus the tools for running lenses as a product - voice clone, custom domains, embedding, Slack, webhooks, paid lenses, custom action buttons, third-party integrations, your own model API keys, more lenses, and much higher daily limits.

If you mainly use Mindola for yourself, the personal plan covers it. Choose the creator plan when you are publishing lenses to an audience.

Comparing plans

Compare plans in Settings then Subscription opens a side-by-side comparison so you can stay in Settings while picking a tier. It lists every feature of every plan: chat and knowledge tools, capture limits, the lens creator suite, audience and analytics, and developer access. A check mark means the feature is included; a number shows the limit for that plan.

A plan also controls which models you can reach on the Smart and Think quality modes, how many lenses you can run at once, and how much you can keep in your knowledge. Every plan can use all chat personalities.

Daily limits

Some things are capped per day and reset at midnight UTC. The exact numbers for each plan are in the comparison table in the app.

  • Chat messages - chatting does not spend words, so this daily cap is what bounds it.
  • Audio and video uploads - the costliest sources, because they are transcribed. Files are limited to 25 MB each; split longer recordings into shorter clips.
  • Image uploads and PDF and document uploads.
  • Lens questions - how many questions visitors can ask your lenses, pooled across all of them.
  • Lens voice answers - when a visitor calls your lens, the reply is spoken in a natural voice up to a monthly budget, pooled across all your lenses. This budget resets on the 1st of each month, not daily. Past it, calls still work; the answer is just read by the visitor’s own device voice instead.

Pasted text, notes, links, and Q&A pairs have no daily cap; they only count toward your lifetime word allowance. When you reach a daily upload cap, that tile on the Knowledge page turns into an upgrade link while the others keep working.

Audience tracking

When people chat with your lenses, they appear on the Audience page and in your lens inbox, so you can read every conversation and keep private notes on each contact. The audience inbox, CRM dashboard, and lens analytics are paid features. How many unique visitors you can see at once depends on your plan; past that cap the dashboard shows your most recent visitors and tells you to upgrade to track more. Visitors are still served and replied to like normal - only the CRM view is trimmed. See Audience.

The free trial

Every new account can start one free 7-day trial of the personal paid plan, with full access to its features for the whole window. The creator plan has no trial and bills immediately. New accounts see an Enable Trial Now button in Settings then Subscription, and a welcome prompt right after signup.

Starting the trial collects a payment method through Stripe. You are not charged during the trial; the card is on file so your subscription can continue automatically when the trial ends. On day 8, Stripe charges your card and your subscription continues. Mindola emails you before the trial ends so it is never a surprise, and Settings shows the exact date and amount throughout.

The trial unlocks features, not extra words: you keep the same word allowance as the free tier until you upgrade to a paid plan. See The word allowance.

If a payment is declined, Stripe retries over the following days and you get an email asking you to update your card. If it ultimately cannot be charged, the subscription is cancelled and your account returns to the free tier. Your conversations, facts, and lenses are always kept.

To stop before being charged, cancel from Settings then Subscription before the trial ends. The trial is one-shot per account; once you have used it, you see the regular upgrade option going forward.

Managing your plan

Settings then Subscription is where you upgrade, change, or cancel. Billing runs through Stripe. After a change, your new plan takes effect right away and the sidebar updates to match. If you return from Stripe and the page sits on “Confirming your upgrade” for a moment, that is the app double-checking with Stripe directly; it resolves on its own.

Clicking Upgrade or picking a plan should send you straight to Stripe. If you see an error instead, try again in a moment. If it keeps failing, email support@mindola.ai and it will get sorted; nothing was charged.

Cancelling

A quiet Cancel subscription link sits under your plan card in Settings then Subscription. Cancelling takes two short steps so you do not do it by accident:

  1. Are you sure? A reminder of what stops working when the plan ends.
  2. A one-time offer. If you have never taken it before, Mindola offers 50% off for your next two months to stay. Take it and your subscription continues with the discount on your next invoices; decline and it cancels.

Cancelling is never immediate. You keep every paid feature until the end of the period you have already paid for. The plan card then shows “Cancels on” with the date and a Resume subscription button, so you can undo any time before that date. When the date arrives you drop to the free tier. Your second brain and your lenses are never deleted by a downgrade; some paid-only lens features just go inactive until you upgrade again.

If your card is currently failing on a past-due payment, you will see the cancel option but not the discount. Fix the card first from the same screen.

Getting paid for a lens

If you charge for a lens, the money side is separate from your own subscription. Connect a Stripe account in Settings then Selling; that is where payouts from paid lenses land. See Paid lenses.

If a billing step fails

If starting a trial or opening the billing page does not work, the app tells you directly instead of failing silently. “There’s no billing account on this profile yet” means the account has never had a subscription; start a plan first and the billing page unlocks. Any other message usually means a temporary hiccup: try again, and contact support if it keeps happening.

If something on a bill does not look right, email support@mindola.ai and it will be sorted out.
